Hilander's Mega Sale through Wednesday!

Hilander's Mega Sale continues through Wednesday and there are some great deals! I completely spaced it and thought I had posted these deals last week for you all and didn't?! Sorry! We had been on vacation for ending three weeks now which left me little time for bargain shopping or any shopping let alone typing a post.

I went on Saturday and the store was stocked full. I love Hilander for that very reason! I don't think I have ever gone with the flyer in had and not found what I needed. If it was empty I was given a raincheck and usually cashed it in the next time I went!

Remember that with the Mega Event you MUST purchase 10 items to have the $5 discount applied automatically! There is no limit on the number of times you can do this "deal" in a one transaction.

Here goes:

**SOBE Life Water - .99
Use BOGO FREE coupon
2 - FREE
(this is a weird one - buy 2 and they ring up at .99 each - the BOGO coupon will take off .99 then the Mega event will take off .49 each which makes them FREE - trust me on this one!)

**Pillsbury Grands Biscuits - .99
Use $1 off 2 printable coupon
.98 for 2

**Pillsbury Crescent Rolls - .99
Use .50 off 2 printable coupon
.98 for 2

**Pillsbury Cinnamon Rolls - .99
Use .40 off 2 printable
$1.18 for 2

**Betty Crocker Fruit Snacks - $1.49
Use .40 off 1 Fruit Shapes printable here or here
$.69 each
(if you buy more than 3 you will get a Catalina for at least $1.50 off)

**Yoplait Delights Multipack - $1.99
Use $1.25 off coupon printable
.74

**Nature Valley Granola Bars - $1.99
Use .40 off printable or here or here
$1.19

**Nature Valley Granola Clusters - $1.99
Use $1 off coupons here or here or here
.99

**Yo-Plus Yogurt, Fiber One Yogurt, all kinds of kids Yoplait Yogurt's (Go-gart, twix, dora, diego)
All sorts of printables here or here or here that make these less than $1!

Most of these have newspaper coupons that are not expired as well! Grab your ad and take a look at the three links above listed with the yogurt! You will find lots more deals.

REMEMBER buy 10 items to qualify for that price then use your coupons to save even more! It won't adjust the price but it will take $5 off your total order.

One deal not related to the Mega Event:
**Danimals crush cups and yogurt drinks are on sales for $1.88!
Use $1 off coupons from recent newspaper inserts (there are about 4 I think)
.88

Hopefully, those will at least get you started!

$5 of free MP3 music downloads

Amazon has a deal going that when you purchase certain video game downloads, you get a $5 credit for MP3 (from Amazon's version iTunes).

Right now, if you "purchase" the Big Kahuna Reef game for free, you get the credit too. It's legit - I tried it out. If you're like me and you don't really care for the game (or it won't run on anything but windows, tough luck for me), you can just purchase it and don't even have to download it! You'll get an email stating you have a credit.

Thanks MoneySavingMom!

Walgreens $5 off $25 coupon

Go here to print your Walgreen's $5 off $25 purchase coupon! It must be $25 after coupons so you will be spending at least $20 but maybe this will help some of you! This coupon is good tomorrow through Saturday.

When a wasted trip isn't one . . .

Well, I went to CVS to get the Sense & Spray deal (priced at 2/$10, buy $10 worth of Glade products, get $3 ECB, plus I had 2 coupons for $4 off . . . would be a money maker).

But - you guessed it - they were out! They said they are getting a new shipment in on Friday, so they should be restocked Friday afternoon . . . problem is, I'm going out of town on Friday! :)

It wasn't a wasted trip, however. I've been wanting to get some quad chairs for Jeremy and me to take along when needed. Jeremy ended winning a deluxe one at Wesley Willows for submitting the winning entry in a T-shirt design contest! Way to go honey!

Well, they have a bunch on sale at CVS! I got one for $3.75 (regularly priced $14.99). They also have a bunch of deluxe ones for $4.99 (reg. $19.99). So it wasn't a wasted trip! Woohoo!

(Note: I went to the CVS on Alpine near Harrison)

VERY quick trip to Walgreens

So I went to Walgreens on Harrison / Alpine to do the Glade Sense & Spray deal (will post about that later) . . . only to figure out, once I got home, that it was a CVS deal! No wonder I couldn't find it. Grrr! :) If I had had more time (had to come home and cook dinner) I would have stopped by CVS and found my deal!

Here's what I got at Walgreens - nothing spectacular, but I'm posting it in case these are items you are looking for!

Scotch Mailing Supplies Cutter (aka wrapping paper cutter) - $1.49
Used $1 coupon for Scotch Cutter product (8/9 RP)
Final Cost: $0.49
(I've always wanted to try these - heard great reviews. Have now tried it - it IS great!)

Scotch's 9"x12" mailing clasp envelopes (8 pk) - $1.99
Used $0.50 coupon for Scotch packaging supply product (7/26 RP)
Used coupon in Walgreens circular that brings price down to $0.79
Final Cost: $0.29

Voilà! A trip to Walgreens for under a dollar. Quick tips:

- The super-duper cool cutters are on the bottom shelf in the clearance aisle (same aisle as toys). There are tons of them.

- The Scotch mailer special for $0.79 also applies to individual bubble mailers, in case you'd rather purchase those!

My Target Trip

I just wanted to post about my quick "Target Trip" today. I did spend money (but not really - I paid with a gift card), but a couple of the things were more-than-free. These are not incredible deals (except for the Kotex), but I need to get back in the swing of getting deals and posting them, so thanks for your patience as I get back on the bandwagon! :)

Windex Outdoor Window Cleaning Kit - $12.99
Used a $3 coupon (8/23 SS)
Final Cost: $9.99

Finish/Electrasol Dishwashing Gel Packs (20) - $3.59
Used a $1 Target coupon here
Final Cost: $2.59
(I usually try to get a better deal on these, but was desperate - only one left at home)

Bounce's new 2 month dryer bar - $3.79
Used a $2.50 coupon I got from Vocalpoint
Used the $1.50 Target coupon (8/23 RP)
Final Cost: Free plus $0.21 overage

Kotex 64ct pantyliners - $2.70
Used a $0.75 coupon (7/19 SS or 8/23 SS)
Used the $2.00 Target coupon (7/26 SS)
Final Cost: Free plus $0.05 overage

Total cost: $13.66 ($12.32 plus tax)

Again, not "fall-over" type deals, but my windows are desperate for a wash, and my dishes need to get done. If you got this weekend's newspaper, you should be able to do the Kotex deal.

If you've read this far, I'm impressed . . . impressed enough to let you know about a few things.

- First of all, I've signed up with Vocalpoint and they have sent me WONDERFUL coupons (like the one for the new Bounce dryer bar). You can sign up here to see if you qualify to be part of their team.

- Second, I have some coupons to give to a couple of you. I have two $1.50 off the new Bounce dryer bars - first 2 people to leave me a comment (and let me know they want it) get it! Then you can combine it with the Target coupon from the newspaper insert from this weekend and get it for under $1!

Have a great day!

Heads Up!

Just a heads up that Kmart is doubling coupons up to $2 again this week. We're hoping to get out to Kmart soon and write out our deals for you, but in the meantime here is a good website to go to for the rules and some very good tips on using coupons at Kmart this week (thanks commonsensewithmoney).

How to find a coupon

Do you ever want to go to the store and wonder if there is a coupon for a specific item you want to buy? Or maybe you're like me . . . you're a week or two behind in cutting your coupons, but you need to go to the store and you want to make sure you're not missing out on using a coupon (and you don't have time to go through the yet-uncut coupon insert)?

Then the couponmom.com site is for you! Go here and then choose your state from the pull-down menu. It will bring up a coupon database in which you can search for anything! It used to be that it just listed newspaper insert coupons, but I noticed that they now have printable internet coupons listed too! Woohoo!

If you want to try a search for the fun of it, type in "toothpaste". You'll see some internet coupons, plus a list of coupon insert coupons. If you're wondering what the codes are beside the dates, they are as follows:

RP - Red Plum
S - Smart Source
PG - Procter & Gamble

I've added this website to my "favorites" and to my Firefox toolbar, so now it's just a click away when I need it! Thanks CouponMom for such a wonderful tool!

Huggies deal?

I'm not in the diaper market, but saw this deal and thought I'd share it with you.

ToysRUs / BabiesRUs has an instore deal going on where if you buy 2 value boxes of diapers, you get a $10 gift card (good until Aug 29). I'm sure there are places where you can get diapers cheaper than there, but if you are in desperate need of diapers and if you planned on getting something at ToysRUs, it may be worth it (it would be like getting $5 off each package).

I would, of course, suggest using coupons to really make this a deal. Some coupons are available here and here, or from July 19th's newspaper coupon inserts. (Thanks Coupon Mom)

Disclaimer: Neither of us have checked this deal out ourselves, so we do not know the prices at the stores and how they compare to other prices . . . but we wanted to at least let you know about this deal in case you wanted to check it out for yourself!

Updated Walmart Deals

Here are two links to some updated Walmart deals . . . REMINDER: There are a few disclaimers I would like to note since these sites are NOT local:

1. Rockford tends to have higher prices than most areas - shocker! Right!? Probably not.
2. Rockford's Walmart might not carry the exact same items.
3. Rockford might not receive the same $ coupons as their papers. We have higher prices and we tend to get lower $ coupons - that just doesn't seem right.
4. We have not verified these deals for you. The deals we list on our site are ones for which we have gone to the store and verified or done ourselves. That would not be the case with these Walmart deals.

Walgreens coupon book and a TIP!

Walgreens has a new coupon booklet that is orange and says Back-2-School Coupon Book Over $50 in savings inside.

These are great coupons because they are Walgreens coupons which means you can combine them with a manufacturer coupon.

For instance:
There is a coupon for $2 off Huggies wipes 64 count or higher.
The 80 count I picked up was $3.59 (yikes that's high)!
I used the $2 off coupon from the Walgreens Back-2-School booklet
I used a .75 off home mailer coupon (I know most people get these there were also .50 off coupons from a recent insert)
.84 for a tub of Huggies wipes! (These will probably go onsale sometime during the month the coupons are good through 8/29/09.)

Also, I actually was headed to the store for Children's Claritin. I am not big on giving medication for colds etc. but both kids have had terrible sneezing, runny nose fits every time we spend a day outdoors. Since we have done that the last three days they are tissue consuming little people.

Here's the tip:
Make sure you have a coupon and if you don't Swagbucks it!

I looked through my coupons and didn't have one for Claritin but had one for Zyrtec. I did a very quick Swagbucks search for Children's Claritin coupon and a $2 off coupon popped up.
When I went into Walgreen's I noticed the Back-2-School- coupon booklet and inside were 2 different coupons for Children's Claritin a $2 off and a $3 off! I picked out a bottle for $10.99 and used my $4 in coupons! I paid $8.61 for my Claritin and Huggies wipes and two highlighters!

Lets Give Back!

We all realize times are tough, people are losing jobs, and budgets are getting squeezed. It has been brought to my attention that the Illinois Food Banks are really struggling. They have actually had to go to area businesses and ask them for help for what it sounds like the first time ever.

Couponing can easily lead to excess. We have our "stockpiles" of items we purchased at rock bottom prices or items that were free. I urge you to check your stockpile or pantries to see what you could donate.

I will gladly accept donations in person to save you a trip or our local Rockford Public Library is going to have barrels for people to donate and they will deliver the items to the Rock River Valley Pantry. Obviously, you can go to either Pantry directly with your donations as well.

Here is a link to the Northern Illinois Food Bank that shows us what items are needed.

Also at either website, Rock River Valley Pantry or Northern Illinois Food Bank there is an option to donate $ or volunteer!

Think about it!
