Monday Meals - Alfredo Sauce

So we've tried a few alfredo sauces, and I have to say that Olive Garden's is still our favorite. I have yet to find another restaurant sauce, store bought one, or recipe that matches or even comes close to the yummy-ness of Olive Garden's sauce.

So I'd like to ask you, our readers: do you have a recipe (or have you found a store bought sauce) that comes close to being this tasty? Here's one I found online lately from Budget Savvy Diva- I have yet to try making it, but it does sound pretty good!

Freelance Friday - Ask the Readers

My husband and I will be celebrating our 15th wedding anniversary next January. We are planning on a warm exotic vacation of some sort and we would love you input on a couple things!

First, where is the best place online to find travel deals? We generally just do smaller vacations in the states surrounding us and find hotel deals through Groupon or Priceline, but for a bigger package vacation do you have any recommendations?!

Second, do you have any recommendations on a great location that is warm, sunny, quite, and an "in my view" a little slice of heaven?! We just want to be able to relax, read some books, enjoy being together and mix in few activities on a beach somewhere.

We would love your suggestions and advice!

New Year's Resolutions

I'm a little behind on my New Year's resolutions this year . . . I'm hoping to sit down for a few minutes in the next few days and write out a list. My goal is to make it a SHORT list and one that is actually ATTAINABLE. We'll see - my track record with resolutions isn't the greatest!

Here is one that I think would be great for me to do . . . and with you all as my accountability, I'm hoping I'll do well with it!

Homemade "green" Clorox wipes

I love the convenience of Clorox wipes - but I don't like the cost, so I don't buy them often. In fact, I think the last time I had them was over a year ago. But I do think about buying them sometimes . . . until I see the price!

So when I saw this post on Homemade Clorox Wipes I was definitely intrigued! And I like the idea! I have tons of old white t-shirts that could be used for this. Although she does it more for "health" and green reasons, I'm tempted to try this out. What do you think?

My only problem is that I don't have half of the ingredients! I do have water and vinegar, but not castille soap or tea tree oil. Anyone know where I can get my hands on this stuff without paying an arm and a leg?

I'm curious to know how many of you got the Burlington Coat factory flier in the mail that Kristie mentioned here. I always get excited when I get a $10 off of $10 purchase (or any amount that basically gives you a freebie)!

So here's a fun question: if you did get it, what did you choose to purchase with it?

I went to the new store at Machesney Park Mall - it's very bright and clean! I didn't get to browse much because of time AND because I found what I wanted at the very front of the store - a watch! I've been needing a watch, and found one I like for $9.99

I walked out of the store with a new watch and having not paid a penny! Nope, not even tax! Woohoo! What about you?

Question for our Readers out there! Do any of you have recommendations on an insurance company for Auto and Home here in the Rockford area?

I have only lived in Rockford here for just over two years so when we moved here I did not have a chance to thoroughly research companies. We are satisfied with our current insurance carrier but every six month or sooner the premiums continue to rise with no change in policy.

Okay, It's our first Ask the Readers question. This hopefully will be a way that we can pose a question to our fabulous readers and try to find a great deal on items for major purchases, clothing, etc.

Does anyone know of a great place to purchase tires in the Rockford area? Have you had any luck at a particular location or do most of you just look for the best deal at the time you are ready to purchase? I would appreciate your feedback.

We have only been in the Rockford area for less than two years and have never had to replace tires on either vehicle but the time has come. Well the time probably came over the winter when you could hear the air seeping out of the truck tires in the garage on very cold mornings!

Also, I want to thank Anouk for her help in compiling some of the great deals and emailing me some tips you have seen this week. We have a great time here at Pinch a Penny behind the scenes posting about some time sensitive deals in hopes you can all stretch your budget!
