Today's Rockford Groupon!

Today's Rockford Groupon is $5 for $10 worth of Coffee, Donuts, etc at Dandy Donuts on E. Riverside. I stopped in there last week because I had . . . a coupon of course! Buy a coffee and get a half dozen donuts free - this came in the blue Valpak envelope full of coupons. The donuts remind me of donuts you would get at the fair - they are mini donuts and they make them when you order them . . . nice and hot. It is a cute little place to stop in and they serve New England Coffee. They have soups and sandwiches, cheesecake and smoothies as well.

Check out the Groupon deal here!

Need Eyeglasses?

Are you in need of new eyeglasses but just can't spend the money? Recently, my husband needed a new pair of glasses as his current pair would just randomly fall of his face in pieces. Luckily, he is talented enough to catch and find all the pieces to put them back together but it was becoming rather annoying for him . . . I've been told.

We decided it would be a good time to try Zenni Optical online . . . quality prescription glasses starting at $6.95 . . . yep you read that right $6.95! Now of course he picked out a pair of frames that he has wanted for awhile - half rim, hingeless (view them here) for $9.95 adding on single vision lenses for $9 and the anti-reflection coating for $4.95 and shipping for $4.95 for a total of $28.85! I must say I am impressed with them. They look great and he is very happy with the quality and they are just what he wanted. We will definitely order from them again - no complaints. The only drawback I would have is you can't try them on but if you know what style works for you then you are set. Check them out!

Deeply Discounted Airfest 2011 Tickets!

Starting today through Christmas Eve Rockford Airfest Tickets are going on sale for $4 for adults and $3 for kids ages 5-12; kids 4 and under are free. Regular prices are $15 for adults and $5 for kids. This is a great deal that they are repeating from last year.

Even better they are selling tickets at the terminal and 5 area Culver's locations! You can also order online but there will be a convenience charge. Go here to check out all the details and see the locations!

We love to go to this event, however this year they moved it back to June which makes it very difficult for us to attend due to my husbands work schedule. At this price, I am going to risk it and hope he can break free and attend for the afternoon because for less than the regular price of one adult I can buy tickets for us all now.

Cheap Wrapping Paper and Tissue Paper!

Today is the last day to get a great deal at Walgreen's on Hallmark wrapping paper and tissue paper. I am not a Walgreen's shopper but I did check this one out yesterday as I was out of tissue paper! This was evidence at the wedding shower I attended Thursday night. I used one sheet of green and one sheet of pink in my pretty silver holly gift bag . . . oh well sorry to the bride to be but that was all I had. . . now I am restocked!

Go here to Money Saving Mom as she lists to scenarios for you
! Good luck! I found the $1.99 wrapping paper in the checkout isle not in the gift wrap isle!

A Fun Free Advent Activity!

We try to have lots of fun Christmas traditions at our house but last year I wanted to make sure I worked in something new on a daily basis that focused our minds on Christ. The day after Christmas last year I hit Target for their 50% off Christmas sale and found a beautiful silver advent box with etched glass doors counting down the days of Christmas. Then I hit the Bible bookstore and grabbed a paper advent calendar with the number and a verse behind each day. So, this year we read the day on the calendar and then open the corresponding day on our pretty silver box for a delicious surprise. The kids love it and it is a good reminder first thing in the morning on where our focus should be.

I want to change it up each year and of course make it more age appropriate as the kids get older. This morning I found this on Bible Story Printable's (a free site with all sorts of great coloring pages and crafts) . . . The Names of Jesus Ornaments/Crafts which goes along with the Names of Jesus Advent Countdown. I want to read through it more and we may not do the notebook, craft etc each day that she is suggesting for homeschoolers but just read through the Scripture and talk about the meaning of the names for our Advent activity. I don't want to make it too complex because then I might have the tendency not to do it at all. Keep it simple is my moto!

My suggestion is to put it all together so it will be ready to go next year when you pull out your decorations. If you are like us this time of year is filled with activity as soon as Thanksgiving passes. When I pulled out the Christmas decorations, I was set to start on December 1st I just had to buy candy and even then I already had that, I mean who doesn't have a stash of candy just in case! Now if I could just remember what on earth the red and green strips of paper where for!? They are all cut up neatly and in a ziploc bag in a Christmas box. I am sure I had good intentions!

60 Photo Christmas cards for $4.90 with FREE Overnight Shipping

Check out this deal from SeeHere if you haven't ordered your Christmas cards. I was contemplating not sending Christmas cards this year but saw this deal and changed my mind!

I would recommend doing this deal today as I think the 50 free cards code is good through the end of today and the free overnight shipping is good through tomorrow 12-12.

Go here and chose a 4x8 card (single sided flat photo card), design it and place 60 cards in your cart. Then click place your order and enter the promo 50cards and check overnight shipping. Your total with tax will be $5.30! Production time is 5 days but with the overnight shipping you will still have them at least 5 days before Christmas.

This would be a great offer to if you need birth announcements!!

It's Back . . . Amazon's 25 days of FREE Christmas Music

Amazon ran this offer last year and I am happy to see it again this year. Everyday they offer a FREE Christmas song! It is a great way to get a good variety of Christmas music. Each song will be available for download through Christmas so if you forget to look for a few days you can still download previous days music.

Go here to start downloading and to keep track of the list they will be offering.

Looking for a way to use your Amazon $3 MP3 credit?

Here's an idea for that free credit you got (and have to use by Monday). If you have children or you spend time with children, this is a good purchase to use up your $3 credit. It's called "Songs for Saplings" and it is verses put to song. The total is $8.99, so you'll still have to spend $5.99, but you'll get 38 verses put to song! My 3 year old niece is loving it (listening to it right now). What a great way to instill the Word in children!

Plus when you purchase this MP3 album, you'll get a code for a $5 credit toward an "Amazon Video on Demand" which means a free movie night with your spouse or a friend!

The Blind Side for $3.99

Amazon is running a deal on "The Blind Side" movie which is one the best movies I've seen in the last year or so! It's only $3.99, and if you have already signed up for AmazonMom (even if you're not a mom), you'll get free 2 day shipping! Snatch it up before the price goes up!

Thanks for the heads up FrugalGirls!

Sad news from Hilander

I have sad news . . . for weeks (maybe even a few months now) I have seen small signs at my Hilander that only coupons up to $0.50 will be doubled. So far, even my $0.55 coupons have doubled - until yesterday. When I asked why my $0.55 coupons did not double, I was told that only coupons up to $0.50 are doubled. I've also looked on their weekly ad, and the "double coupon" part of it is no longer on there.

The deals to be had out there are fewer and farther between as we're sure you have noticed by the lack of posts on our blog. Because of the lack of "great deals" like we were seeing just a year or two ago, we're re-thinking this blog to include a broader scope than just posting great deals. Thanks for your great patience as we try to figure this out!

I made a QUICK trip to Hilander for some 7up for a sick little girl and ended up getting all of this for about $6.50 and notice the 1lb of whole bean coffee in the back which is usually about that price alone!

Hopefully, I will have time to make a real trip to the store before this sale is over.

Checkout the links from my previous post on this sale. All the coupons I used were printable coupons except for the salsa!!

Rozoni pasta coupons here or here also - .04 a box

Campbell's soup coupons here - .50 off Chunky - $1 off 2 Campbell's Select - 1.50 off 3 Creamy soups - FREE - .50 a can depending on which coupons used and which soups purchased

Dukes & Lords!

Dukes & Lords, a family haircutting center, offers great one day specials of $5 haircuts!!! I mean seriously that is an awesome deal. You can't even hit Great Clips that for anywhere near that price.

Yesterday, I took the little man in the new location on E. Riverside because the sign was flashing $5 haircuts. The staff was awesome, friendly and gave him a great haircut. The assistant manager cut his hair and she was great.

Go here to see all of their locations in the Rockford area and keep an eye on their signs for when they offer their awesome $5 haircuts. When I see them again on Riverside I will tell you because odds are we will be going too!

And, the answer to the all important do they have suckers question . . . YES! I guess that is why my son always sits so perfect like an angel while getting his haircut ever since his first one OR maybe he is very particular about his hair and paying close attention?! :)

Kroger Mega Event!

There is a Kroger Mega Event sale that starts today. Buy 10 participating items and get $5 off instantly. I wanted to get this out to you so you have plenty of time to get in on the good deals! There are over 190 participating items and lots of items under $1! I haven't gone to Hilander yet, but browsed the ad and it seems to match up with these sites.

Southern Savers has the most comprehensive list and coupon match up printable and newspaper! I love her site because you just check the boxes of the items you want and create a shopping list all categorized for you. There is no way I have the time to recreate this for you so that is why I am sending you to her!

In case her site is overwhelming, here is My Good Cents - she did a quick short trip
.

Deal Seeking Mom also has a great list compiled AND a list here of Unadvertised deals too.

I would suggest picking one and just taking your time to go through it. There are lots of FREE to almost FREE items - soups, toothbrushes, cough drops, etc.

One tip I learned while shopping a Mega Sale is to take reusable shopping bags and put 10 items in the bag then close it up. This way you just count the bag once and you are done then start a new bag. It really helps you focus and go faster when you are shopping with kids or just plain need another cup of coffee and don't want to keep track.

Also, this sale goes through Tuesday. Odds are it will run again the next week too.

P & G Coupons

This past Sunday had the usual P & G coupon insert booklet (Proctor & Gamble). Take a look at the coupons and see what has changed. It is very interesting.

The coupon states 1 coupon per purchase - which is usual and just means you need to have 1 coupon per 1 item. It also states a limit of 4 like coupons in one transaction! Now this wouldn't apply to most of us. I usually only buy 1 paper and get 1 insert/set of coupons. However, it could be added to printable coupons etc. if this trend catches on. It is also in bright red print just to make sure that we all caught the change!

Go here and download The Incredible Singing Christmas Tree CD for FREE from amazon! Not sure how long it will stay free so grab it now!

We just recently grabbed two of their CD's and I find myself singing along with them even when I am alone in the car . . . which is pretty rare but none the less the kids and I love them.

Watch your coupons at Target

Here is a great article from the Chicago Tribune explaining issues with coupons at Target stores. Target has been aware of a coupon scanning/computer problem with their registers since August and it has yet to be rectify the situation.

Target is one of my favorite stores but for them to be fully aware of a problem and not have a solution is incredible.

This is a good read and one reason why I haven't posted deals for Target in a while. I thought for sure this problem would be resolved by now. This also really affects gift card deals with the use of multiple coupons. Let's hope this prompts Target corporation to find a solution!

Hilander Mega Event & Candy!

Just wanted to let you know that if you still plan on taking advantage of the Mega Event going on at Hilander until tomorrow, there is another great deal going on.

The Willy Wonka 12 oz Laffy Taffy and Nerd packages are part of the Mega Event making them $1.49 each ($1.99 regularly) when you buy 10 participating items. I bought 4 today along with 6 other products and was able to use the $1.00/2 coupon from this past Sunday's Red Plum insert (I only had one, would have been a sweeter deal with 2 coupons). To my surprise, a Nestle catalina for $3 printed, which I used for my next transaction!

So 4 packages of candy = 4 x $1.49 = $5.96
Take away $1.00 from coupon = $4.96
Take away the $3.00 catalina = $1.96

Not too shabby for over 130 pieces of candy!

Gluten Free FYI

Just wanted to let the Rockford area people know that the Hilander on S. Alpine is now carrying Udi Gluten Free products! It's expensive, but very hard to find and definitely some of the best gluten free breads, granola, and cinnamon rolls on the market! You'll find it on its own display rack in the bakery section. You can check out the online website for Udi here and sign up for their specials and coupons.

Hope this helps someone out there! Check out your Hilander (or other grocery stores) and post if your store carries Udi also. Thanks!

Giveaways on Ellis Blog

My friend Danita has a blog where she does a lot of reviews for products and often has something to give away to one of her readers. This week is no exception - she has a giveaway that started today: it's a cookbook called "The Family Dinner."

So far there are only 3 entries, so be sure to enter since there is a great chance of winning! I won the fogless mirror giveaway just last month and it's a great product.

Have a great day and hope one of us wins the cookbook!

Betty Crocker Gluten Free Coupon

Here's something you don't see often! A $0.75 coupon for Betty Crocker's Gluten free dessert mix! Print it now before they are gone! Remember, just hit the back button to print it a second time! If you don't need this coupon, print it for a friend who does!

Homemade "green" Clorox wipes

I love the convenience of Clorox wipes - but I don't like the cost, so I don't buy them often. In fact, I think the last time I had them was over a year ago. But I do think about buying them sometimes . . . until I see the price!

So when I saw this post on Homemade Clorox Wipes I was definitely intrigued! And I like the idea! I have tons of old white t-shirts that could be used for this. Although she does it more for "health" and green reasons, I'm tempted to try this out. What do you think?

My only problem is that I don't have half of the ingredients! I do have water and vinegar, but not castille soap or tea tree oil. Anyone know where I can get my hands on this stuff without paying an arm and a leg?

Thanks for the intriguing post, liverenewed.com!

Remember Groupon?

If you subscribe to email updates, I want to apologize for sending the same post to you twice! I was trying to edit it with the fact that I decided to take advantage of the Groupon deal I posted about earlier today. I didn't realize it would essentially "repost" it and send out a new email. Sorry!

For those of you who don't subscribe via email, I was just so excited to share that I just purchased my first Groupon! I bought two of these for gifts, but I won't say for whom just in case those two happen to be reading this post!

I also just realized that you can get $10 per person you refer to Groupon. So if you signed up, be sure to refer your friends to Groupon and get $10 each time one signs up! If you haven't signed up yet, and would like to, you can always
sign up with me as your referral! Remember, it's free to sign up - no cost until you decide to take advantage of one of the deals like I did today!

Gotta love getting Christmas gifts checked off the list!

Preparing for next summer at Ulta

Ulta is not usually an inexpensive place to shop, but the one on State St here in Rockford, IL currently has 50% off the lowest clearanced prices (red tag only). There are a lot of things there from nail polish and makeup, to workout DVDs, to lotions, and all kinds of other things. Their clearance prices crack me up, but the extra 50% off coupled with one of their coupons (you can print one here for $5 off a $10 purchase), can get you some pretty good deals!

Here's what I got (black is clearance price, green is with the 50% off, red was my price after coupon:
Aveeno SPF 70 Sunblock Spray - $10.99 / $5.49 / $2.87
Water Babies SPF 55 Sunscreen stick - $5.99 / $2.99 / $1.56
Nivea Lip balm SPF 30 - $2.99 / $1.49 / $0.78
Ulta travel sized hairspray - $0.99 /$0.49 / $0.26

Total after coupon and with tax: $5.91

Now I didn't get anything "free" per say, but I needed sunscreen for next summer (and my husband can only stand the spray which is usually quite expensive) and some to carry in my purse. I desperately needed some lip balm too (yes, I know there were some available for free after rewards at Walgreens, but I didn't make it there) . . . so all in all, I'm pretty happy.

Note: Be sure to check the expiration dates! Some of the sunscreen/sunblock stuff expired at the end of this year, but the ones I got are good until 2012!

Christmas gift idea? Personalized jewelry? Read on!

Have you Grouponed yet? There is no cost and you can get some pretty good deals. The basic idea is that a company will offer a discount on their services / goods and if enough people decide to take advantage of it, it's open season!

I haven't taken advantage of any deals yet, but have to say that many have been tempting. Most of the Groupon deals for me are for the Chicago area, but many times there are also deals that are nation wide (usually an online shop). If you're a reader from outside of the state of Illinois, Groupon has a list of cities from all over the country for you to pick from.

If you like jewelry or need a good idea for a gift for a parent or grandparent or friend, today's deal may be for you! You can get a personalized necklace (or other jewelry) for half off! Groupon is offering that for $12 you get $25 worth of personalized jewelry from "Love Stamped." Shipping is free, so you could possibly buy a necklace for $12 out of pocket! (I think there are 2 necklaces that are $25, some for $27.50, and many at $32. Still even if you buy a $32 necklace, you'd only be paying $19 out of pocket)!

Note: I just purchased my first Groupon! I bought two of these, but I won't say for whom in case they are reading this post! I also just realized that you can get $10 per person you refer to Groupon. So if you signed up, be sure to refer your friends to Groupon and get $10 per friend who signs up! If you haven't signed up yet, and would like to, you can sign up with me as your referral (thanks!) Remember, it's free - no cost until you decide to take advantage of one of the deals!

Helping New Moms

We are blessed at our church to have some very new additions, the latest one having just been born today. By the end of November we will have 3 "newborn boys" (well, all under 3 months) in our nursery.

Today, when I saw this post on "The Finer Things In Life" I couldn't help but want to share it with others and try to implement a few of them to help out these moms! Even if you're in a difficult financial time in your life, some of these would make great "free" gifts - just make up a coupon for the new mom (i.e. - I'll clean your kitchen) and give it to her for a gift!

Hope you enjoy the read! "Encouragement for New Moms"

Thanks for the tips Jen!

Some coupons you might want to print

Here are some of the best deals I found on MoneySavingMom's website today. Go check it out!

$1.50 coupon off Coffee Mate

2 Free Photo Cards at Walmart

100% back in Rewards at Office Depot!

Are you a Worklife Rewards Card carrier? If not, you'll want to get one here! If you want to take advantage of the deals below, you'll need one. It is similar to CVS or Hilander (Kroger)'s card - no fees, just advantages!

Office Depot always has some kind of deal going on where if a Worklife Rewards member purchases an advertised "something" at the full price, they get 50% back in rewards (in form of Office Depot gift card). You'll have to pay out of pocket the first time, but then you can roll your reward into other purchase to get more rewards!

Right now until October 9, they have a deal going where you get 100% back in Rewards card if you purchase certain items (binders, coffee K-cup, legal pads, address labels). Check out all the items here. Apparently you are limited to two of each item per day, so have at it! And remember to Google for Office Depot coupons! My favorite place to find them is at Slickdeals.net here.

Again, if you don't have a Worklife Rewards Card, you can sign up for it here. I have one and love it because every time I purchase anything at Office Depot I get 1% back on my card. If I purchase paper or ink, I get 10% back. The rewards are given a few weeks after the end of the quarter, and must reach at least $10 before being issued. If it is less than $10, it will be carried over until the next quarter.

Deal example: Last month I used the $55 gift card from the previous quarter (from a paper deal this summer) to purchase 2 cases of paper and some pens which put my total at just over $75. I had a $15 off $75 coupon, so I paid just under $7 total, tax included. Plus, I'm getting back 50% of the paper cases cost ($36) at the end of the quarter! What a deal!

Target Catalinas!

If you have been to Target anytime recently, you may have noticed the new coupon printing machines they have instead of coupons printing out with your receipt. Most of these appear to be manufacturer coupons instead of Target coupons but it also seems they will be printing Catalina's too!

For those of you who don't know what a Catalina is - it is a coupon that prints off that gives you $'s off your next purchase. They can be used just like cash or gift cards etc.

For instance a slip printed that notified me for the following:
Buy Nature Valley Granola Bars between 10/4 & 10/31
Buy (3) & get $1.50...or
Buy (4) & get $2.50...or
Buy (5) or more & get $3.50

So, deals at Target could get more interesting! We will keep you posted if there are any great coupon match ups with these Catalina's!

CVS Deal this week!

If you are headed to CVS this week, make sure you scan your CVS card at the coupon scanner! They are offering a $5 off Halloween Costumes or Accessories. There are lots of items for $5 or less. Just make sure you spend at least the $5 or the coupon won't go through.

I purchased 4 glow sticks and 2 glow bracelet packets at .99 each and paid $1.01 for all of them! We use these all the time!

The coupon must be used the day you receive it!

FREE Nivea Chapstick at Walgreens!

If you received yesterdays Chicago Tribune, there were two coupons for Nivea Lip Care Items. $1 off 1 Nivea Lip Care and $2 off 2 Nivea Lip Care items. This week at Walgreen's they are $1! Just in time to stock up for the dry winter season! Just pay tax and get 3 Nivea Lip Care items!

Don't worry if you make it to Walgreen's and they are out just take the sale flyer in it's entirety to Target and have them price match and use your coupons there!

There was a printable coupon for $2 off 2 that ran out of its print limit. If it returns this week, I will post it!

HOT Coupon!

Two posts in one day . . . nobody freak out! Here is a HOT coupon you can print twice . . .

Go load some Hilander ECoupons

Go here and check out some new ecoupons from Hilander for store brand products. I'm not sure if this deal is going on at all CVS stores, but when I went to mine (at Alpine and Harrison) yesterday, they had all their Topsy-Turvy planters at 90% off! I got a strawberry Topsy-Turvy planter for $0.69 and a tomato one for $0.99! I've always wanted to try these out, and at that price, I couldn't resist!

Score some free SoBe water!

Have you been playing the Heads or Tails SoBe game? I've played pretty consistently and gotten at least a BOGO coupon every time! If you're like me and have gotten tons of those coupons printed, then you'll want to head over to Hilander this week! They have their SoBe drinks for $0.99, but if you buy 8 of them you get $4 off, making them $0.49 a piece. Use your BOGO coupons (4 of them) and you'll get them for free - well, you'll have to pay taxes.

I have 16 in my fridge! :) Enjoy!

Survey company

*** Looks like they are no longer taking new applications as of today! ***

I've been with Pine Cone Surveys for more than 6 months now and I have to say they are my favorite survey company. I get paid $3 for each survey I take, and the surveys are normally no more than 15-20 minutes a piece . . . plus I've gotten to try out new products that aren't even on the market! (But I can't give you details because it's confidential!). At first they would send me a $3 check every time, but after a few surveys I became eligible to receive payment through PayPal. It's been great!

Apparently they're accepting new applications for survey takers: sign up and hopefully you'll be accepted!

All those school supply deals!!

Just wanted to point you to a wonderful tool at SaveAtHomeMommy.com

She has a great "spreadsheet" of sorts that give you price comparisons for school supplies from 8 different stores this week. After reading the list, I've decided to stop by Walgreens where most of the stuff I want is! Saves me a trip to multiple stores - sure the 2 pocket folders are $0.01 somewhere else, but I'm sure I'll save more than the $0.08 extra I'll be paying for them at Walgreens!

Thanks SaveAtHomeMommy.com!

As far as other deals at Target this week two things I see worth grabbing are:

Starbucks Coffee! Buy 3 bags at $6.99 each and get a $5 gift card. If you print 3 of the Target Starbucks Naturals Coupons for $1.50 off, after coupons and $5 gift card it is $3.82 a bag.

Target Deals through June 19th

Okay so you probably noticed that the posts have been slow and coming from us lately. The deals, I feel, have been few and far between and most times not even worth heading to the store for but maybe things are on the upswing or maybe it is just because I have my coupons clipped and filed and am trying to be ready to go this week.

For me time is valuable and I really only shop at two or three stores all week. Some people like to deal hunt and hit more stores but for me and in the season of life I am in, two or three stores is all I can do if I am lucky.

With that being said head to Target this week for a few deals worth stopping in for:

Catalinas at Hilander

Here are two good deals at Hilander with Catalinas:

**Kraft Salad Dressing - $1.50
Use .55 off 1 printable coupon here in IE or here in Safari
$.95 if your Hilander doesn't double internet coupons or $.40 if your Hilander doubles (like they should) THEN:
Buy 2 get $1 Catalina
Buy 3 get $2 Catalina
Buy 4 get $3 Catalina
(FYI - a Catalina is a dollar off coupon good on your next purchase)
So, if you printed 2 coupons and the coupons doubled you would pay $.80 and get $1 back!
The Catalina is good through 6/27 - I am sure during that time the price of the dressing will fluctuate.

**Nestle PureLife Water - $3.33 for a case of 24
Use $1 off 2 printable coupons here THEN:
Buy 2 get $2
Buy 3 get $3
Buy 4 get $5 - BEST DEAL!
So, if you print 2 coupons and get 4 cases of water you will pay $1.58 after coupons and catalina for a case of water!!
I am not one to purchase water - I am a big user of water bottles; however, when it comes to summer and all the activities we do it is nice to have a cooler full of CHEAP water rather than pay $2 for one bottle of water at the zoo or amusement park!
This catalina deal runs through 6/2.

**Oscar Mayer hot dogs - 2/$3
Use $1 off 2 printable here
$1 a package

**Airwick Airfreshener Spray - $2.20
Use $1 off blinkie coupons right by the sprays AND
Use BOGO coupon from the recent newspaper insert
Pay $1.20 total for 2

Gluten free coupon

Have been having problems printing coupons lately, and not sure how else this affects everything (as far as our blog) - so instead of posting a link to the coupon, I'm posting a link to MoneySavingMom's post for $1/1 Gluten Free products.

I know gluten free life can get expensive, so a little help is nice! I was on a gluten free diet for about 2 months and wished there were coupons. So even though I'm now off the diet, I'm on the lookout for those of you who could use a few gluten free coupons!

Enjoy!

(edit - I just clicked on MSM's link on her blog and it takes you to coupons.com. But the cool thing is that all the coupons are for either organic and/or gluten free stuff)

Great reader tip!

Thanks to Karalin for her great tip of a "hidden" deal at Hilander this week! Earlier on Monday she wrote:

"I found a great deal by accident! Hilander has several Kellogg's cereals on sale for $1.97. I've found Froot Loops, Apple Jacks, Raisin Bran, Rice Krispies, and Frosted Flakes. Now, that is already a decent price, but when you buy 3 or more, a catalina will print out too! The catalina says, "Buy any Kellogg's cereals, 8 oz. or larger between 5/1 and 5/14. Buy 3 and get $2.00, buy 4 and get $3, or buy 5 and get $4 coupon off your next shopping order. I have not yet tried to roll the deal, but I'm hoping to try tonight, so I can report back if it works or not."

She did try the deal, and wrote us later saying:

"Hello! I found out tonight that the Kellogg's deal at Hilander DOES roll! So, you can use the catalina that prints to do the deal again, and you'll still get another coupon. This is a GREAT deal! Tonight, I bought 5 boxes of cereal at $1.97 a piece ($9.85), paid with a $4 catalina ($5.85) and walked out with another $4 catalina! This deal works until the 14th, although I don't know if they will have the cereal on sale for that long."

Thanks Karalin for the tip!

Let us know if this deal worked for you too!

Need Diapers?! Check out Target!

If you need diapers this week, check out the CVS Pampers deal here and then Target has a great deal on them too this week!

Buy 3 packs of Pampers or Huggies diaper or pullups at $8.99 a jumbo pack and receive a $5 gift card!
If you treat the gift card like cash, it automatically takes the price down to $7.32 a pack. Now add Target and manufacturer coupons. There have been several Target coupons in inserts lately for Pampers and Huggies and manufacturer coupons as well.

The only printable coupon available right now is for $2 off Huggies Pullups.

I do not buy extra papers and I had enough coupons to have 2 per pack. I bought 1 Pampers pull ups and 2 Huggies pull ups and paid $4.15 per pack after gift card and coupons!

If you are interested in trying these $5 gift card deals, I always save a $5 gift card to "roll" on other deals to lower my out of pocket immediately by $5 each time. This allows me to see my savings right away!

Check out Stretching a Buck here for all the deals posted this week. Nothing really poped out at me except the York Peppermint Pieces after coupon that are $1.49! The $1 off coupon was in last Sunday's insert.

Tuesday, April 27, 2010

$.10 Greek Yogurt at Hilander.

Here are two coupon links (print each link twice) for $.45 off Yoplait's new Greek Yogurt. Hilander has these on sale for $1. Use the coupon to get the Yogurt for $.10 after doubled coupon.

The Hilander on Mulford near Spring Creek has changed their system and it will only double two like coupons per transaction so . . . either do two transactions or use all four coupons and pay $.32 each per container since only two coupons will double. This is still a VERY good deal on Greek Yogurt and it is delicious! I think it is much better than regular yogurt but it is usually at least two times the price.

Coupon link #2 or Safari here

How Stockpiling Really Saves You Money! AND Cheap Pasta!

Let's say you were running to the store because tonight you decided to have Spaghetti! At Hilander Ronzoni Smart Taste Pasta is $1.84 shelf price. Now you could buy a generic or go to Aldi or another store and maybe get another type of pasta for around $1.

But this week at Hilander Ronzoni Smart Taste Pasta is on sale for $1. Good price, however lets add coupons!

Here are 3 links to $.75 off 1 box of Ronzoni Smart Taste Pasta coupons that can be printed twice each link:

Coupon link #1

Coupon link #2

Coupon link #3

NOW, you have a stockpile deal!! You can pick up 6 boxes or Ronzoni Smart Taste Pasta for $.25 each OR $1.50 for 6 boxes which is less than the shelf price ($1.84) for one box of pasta when it isn't on sale. In other words it really saves money to stockpile shop . . . wait for the low price and add coupons!

Thanks Money Saving Mom for the links!

More cheap frozen treats!

The Baskin Robbins' 31 cent scoop night is back next week! On Wednesday, April 28th from 5-10pm, you can get a scoop of Baskin Robbins ice cream for less than a third of a buckaroo!

I love how these are always on Wednesday evenings, because when we go to our local one just down the street from the church, half the folks from church are there!

So, mark it in your calendars! And I'll see you Wednesday at the one at Alpine and Harrison, OK?

Blizzard week

If you like Blizzards, this is your week . . . no, I'm not saying we're going to have snow. I'm talking about Dairy Queen's delicious frozen treats!

It's DQ's 25th birthday and they are celebrating by offering this deal: this week until Sunday, if you buy a Blizzard, you can get a second one for only 25 cents.

No coupon is needed, and it is a deal that is posted on the scrolling banner on their site. I would suggest calling your local DQ store just to make sure they are doing the deal. I haven't tried it myself, but have heard about many others who have.

Have you taken advantage of this deal? If so, what DQ? Post a comment and let us know!

A great new tool!

Money Saving Mom rocks! She and her sister (with the help of many others across the country) have come up with a system where you can find what sales and coupon deals are going on at most stores around the country! And the cool thing is, you can sign up to have those deals emailed to you (like I did), or sign up for RSS feed! Woohoo!

I signed up for the Aldi and Kroger (Hilander) deals to be emailed to me. By the way, Illinois is in the Central Division.

This is a great new tool! Use it to your advantage!
