We all realize times are tough, people are losing jobs, and budgets are getting squeezed. It has been brought to my attention that the Illinois Food Banks are really struggling. They have actually had to go to area businesses and ask them for help for what it sounds like the first time ever.
Couponing can easily lead to excess. We have our "stockpiles" of items we purchased at rock bottom prices or items that were free. I urge you to check your stockpile or pantries to see what you could donate.
I will gladly accept donations in person to save you a trip or our local Rockford Public Library is going to have barrels for people to donate and they will deliver the items to the Rock River Valley Pantry. Obviously, you can go to either Pantry directly with your donations as well.
Here is a link to the Northern Illinois Food Bank that shows us what items are needed.
Also at either website, Rock River Valley Pantry or Northern Illinois Food Bank there is an option to donate $ or volunteer!
Think about it!

I just saw on WREX where they are looking for back to school donations. They are hoping to have enough to get school supplies out to 5000 children in the Rockford area. There are more details here:

This would be a good way to "give back" all those back to school supplies from CVS that were free the last month or so.
