Hello there! I hope you like the new layout of our blog. I was getting tired of the colors and needed some "pep." I won't be doing that again for a little bit (changing the layout): it takes a while!
Today I wanted to deal with time constraints or the time sensitiveness of a lot of the deals we post here. Here are a few facts to remember:
1) A lot of the deals we post are deals we find on the internet, and to which many, many people have access.
2) This means that even in Rockford, there are more "penny-pinchers" that just the readers of this blog.
3) Rockford is not a huge city, and thus the stores often have a limited inventory of any particular item. So if 20 people go and buy 3 of something, it can "clean them out" of that item!
4) We don't always get to go "check out" the deal in person, so please do not be upset if your particular store doesn't carry the item we post about!
4) Coupons that are printable are sometimes available on a first-come first-served basis. Remember, thousands of people know about these.
5) Codes we post for online specials often have an expiration date (i.e. Chicago Tribune code)
Knowing all this, we pledge to:
1) Do our best to post about a deal as soon as we find out about it.
2) Try to remember to post the "timeline" of the deal (when it starts and ends) if available.
3) Try to find out if you can get a raincheck for the deal and let you know if it you can.
Knowing this, you may want to:
1) Take advantage of the deal as soon as you can. For example, print the coupon right away . . . go to the store on Sunday, Monday, or at the latest Tuesday.
2) Let us know if you go to a Rockford store and they are out of something that we posted about.
3) Just have fun! If a store is out of something or a coupon is no longer available, it wasn't meant to be (a.k.a. it was God's will for it to be so).
4) Remember that just because it's free or almost free doesn't mean you have to get it. Can you believe I haven't been to the new CVS yet even though I posted about a $5 off $15 coupon? I may go tomorrow, but if I don't, I'm going to be OK! :)
Just a few tips that hopefully will be helpful and reduce possible stress you may experience about the time sensitive stuff we post!
P.S. - Hilander does give rainchecks for most of their regular sales, except for specials where you get "money back" (like their Mega Event). So that's nice!

If you tried to leave a comment earlier, and it didn't work, I'm sorry! I don't know why it didn't work, but I changed the comment form and now it's working. Thanks for the heads' up Robin!
I LOVE the new lay out!! The colors really brightened my day!! Thanks for all the good advice too!
Speaking of time restraints, if you want to try this out, you have until tomorrow. Here are the super good deals I snagged at Walgreens this week:
1st transacion:
*3 cans of Hunts tomato sauce $.39 each after in-ad coupon
*Colgate total Advanced toothpaste -$1 coupon (not sure which paper) -$2.50 ES booklet q (coupon)
OOP (out-of-pocket) $1.21
2nd transaction:
*3 cans of Hunts tomato sauce (same q)
*Colgate toothpaste -$2.50 ES q -$1.50 q from All You mag.
OOP $.71
3rd transaction:
same as second
4th transaction:
*2 cans Hunts (same q)
*Colgate toothpaste (same q's)(I had some $1.50 printables from the Aetna deal
* Revlon emery board -$1 ES book -$1 Revlon q (any generic Revlon beauty q works, just so you know)
OOP $.01 (the best I've ever done!)
Total OOP $2.64 PLUS I can submit for the rebate $5 when you buy $10 in ConAgra foods for the Hunts! Woohoo!
And here's another one that I just did today. Not as impressive, but still pretty good:
4-12packs of Pepsi on sale for 3/$10.92 or $3.64 each (I got 1 diet cherry and the rest regular cherry, and they said that was fine)
- Wags in-ad coupon for buy 3 get 1 diet
-printable coupon for buy 2 get 1 (the coupon said diet, but I asked the manager, and he just said we would try it and see if the register would take it, and it did)
-2 q's for $2 off each from the Pepsi rebate deal back in January
-Total advance toothpaste (I found a box on an endcap that had a trial size attached, and they said the ES q would work on that too)
-$2.50 ES book
-$1.50 q (from Aetna printable)
total OOP $3.50
for 4 cases of Pepsi and a tube of toothpaste with a trial size attached! Woohoo again!
